  • Any type of contributor regardless of their level (ex. students or research assistant) are required to be included as part of the team of collaborators.

Intellectual Property

  • Connected Motion will be the owner and manager of all Intellectual Property generated by the collaboration projects. If Connected Motion ceases to exist at any point in the future, then IP ownership would be transferred to the collaborators.
  • Any licensing to be performed will be at the end of a contract/project and would involve the individuals that are still part of the contract.
  • All collaborators must sign an NDA to protect Connected Motion’s intellectual property.
  • Collaborated projects should be separate from any project work, course work, or IP conflicts at a different entity. Meaning that collaborators such as students cannot perform the same project as part of a thesis or senior project. The only exception is if the different entity formally gives up all IP rights on the project since its an industrial project.
  • IP that emerges where Connected Motion decides to adopt in a product can take several forms an is not restricted to patents. This could be copyright, software license, trade secret, or a trademark.
  • If any IP is agreed to or registered (through a patent or licensing agreement) based on past projects, royalties can be issued beyond contract expiry.

  • Any open source contributions resulting from this collaboration framework must be published under the Connected Motion public project repository for incentives to be issued.

  • If a paper is submitted for publication before a contract end date then applicant still qualifies for an incentive.
  • Any open-source project that is released by a contract-end date will qualify for incentives for 5 years after the contract end date.
  • Total amount of royalties are not to exceed 25% of the sales revenue per sold unit.
  • If there is more that one collaborator, the total amount of royalties would be spread equally among them.
